Work on upgrading Exmouth Town Hall will begin next week.

East Devon District Council (EDDC), which owns the building, says its housing and benefits advice services will continue to operate from it during the work, which will start on February 27.

EDDC is upgrading the town hall as part of its plan to leave its headquarters at Knowle, Sidmouth, and split its offices between Exmouth and Honiton.

Council leader Paul Diviani said: “Exmouth is the biggest community that the council serves and it’s important that we are on the ground to help local people access our services and get the help they need.

“Following the refurbishment, we will be opening up a fully modernised town hall, which we want to be the high quality, welcoming service hub that Exmouth deserves.”

During the work the town hall will be open Monday to Friday, 9am to 4.30pm, and while the main entrance will be closed, visitors will be able to use the side entrance.

There will be limited visitor parking and the car park will close outside office hours.
