The fundraising campaign to send Exmouth town crier Roger Bourgein to an international competition in Bermuda is nearing its target.

The fund now stands at £1,105 – not far off the £1,600 required.

Fundraising committee chairman Steve Gazzard said: “We are all truly amazed by everyone’s generosity and this clearly shows how much the people of Exmouth support their town crier.”

Donations can now be paid directly into the Exmouth Town Crier Bermuda Competition bank account at NatWest, number 57727694, sort code 60-08-09.

Donations can also be left at The Bicton Inn, c/o Alison Brockbank.
