EXMOUTH'S Manor Gardens is going to be a hub of activity on Saturday May 8 when the local coeliac group holds a family fun day.

The East Devon and Exeter Coeliac UK Voluntary Support Group is holding the event, from 10am until 4.30pm, as part of Coeliac UK awareness week.

Exmouth mayor Darryl Nicholas will officially open the event at 10.30am.

And the Topsham town crier will also attend.

East Devon and Exeter Coeliac spokeswoman Dot Taylor said: "Preparations are going well, and it looks like it is going to be a well attended event. Let's hope the weather does not let us down."

Throughout the day there will be a host of activities, including face painting, crafts, storytelling, jewellery making and circus skills.

There will also be gluten free stalls selling a variety of products, including ice cream, pies and crepes.

The Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service band, Centre Stage and First Stage Drama are among some of the entertainment booked to perform throughout the day.

Youngsters who took part in the group's March cake decorating session at A la Ronde have been asked to get in touch if they are attending, because the organisers have photographs of the session.

To get in touch with Dot about the Mad Hatter tea party photos, telephone (01395) 225 333 or 07806890707.
