THREE men have been arrested on suspicion of stealing more than 600 worth of goods from an Exmouth supermarket.

A 39-year-old man from Ilfracombe, and a 38 and 34-year-old, both from Barnstaple, have been questioned by police.

Goods, including television sets, were taken from Tesco, on Salterton Road, at 4.40pm on Tuesday.

A police spokesperson said a shop assistant chased the offenders and managed to retrieve one of the TVs from within the offenders' vehicle which then drove off at speed.

The shop assistant was not injured.

Police are appealing for witnesses, in particular a male who assisted the shop assistant and handed her the registration number of the offenders' vehicle.
