TWO TEENAGERS from Exmouth have been arrested and charged in connection with failing to comply with a police warning to leave the area.

A total of five section 27 dispersal notices were issued to people directing them to leave at various times between Friday, June 5, and Sunday, June 7.

Eighteen-year-old Wade Gliddon, from Woodbury, and a 16-year-old male from Exmouth, were both arrested and charged before being bailed.

Gliddon will appear before Exeter Magistrates Court on Tuesday, June 23, and the juvenile before the youth court the following day.

Adrian Hawkins, acting sergeant of Exmouth police, said: "The dispersal notices are used in order to reduce the occurrence of crime and help us keep the streets of Exmouth safe.

"We do not make arrests lightly but this should be a warning to those who are told to leave that they must do so or they will be arrested and dealt with robustly".
