Around 80 pensioners enjoyed a slap-up Christmas dinner last week courtesy of AJ's Taxis.
Held at Exmouth Rugby Club, it was the local mini-cab firm’s annual Christmas present to its elderly customers and the cost was paid for by Alan Hill, owner of AJ’s.
The firm closed for the day and customers were picked up and returned home by the drivers, free of charge.
The Christmas meal was cooked by the staff of AJ’s Taxis and the Manor pub, and they were waited on by staff of AJ’s and the community police, with help from volunteers from the tourist information centre.
The guests were also provided with entertainment after the meal, plus wine and fruit juice.
Councillor Brian Cole, the Mayor of Exmouth, and Roger Bourgein, the town crier, also attended the meal.
“It was another successful year,” said Gary Marles for AJ’s. “All the quests had a great time.”
