AN EXMOUTH Community College student spoke in the House of Commons during a youth parliament debate.

Post 16 student Abbey Swain talked about higher education funding.

A spokesperson for the college said: “The significance of the achievement can hardly be overstated. No one is allowed to debate in parliament except elected MPs and members of the youth parliament.”

Abbey, reflecting on her experience, said: “Catching the speaker’s eye was difficult!”

Her contribution can be seen on the BBC Parliament website for Friday, October 29.
