AN AMBITIOUS student from Exmouth has made it through to the final of a Great Britain-wide beauty pageant competition.

Bath university student Kate Rodger, of Foxholes Hill, has been selected as one of 19 girls from the entire country to enter the final of Miss University GB.

The 19-year-old is calling on people to vote for her and help her raise money for The Joshua Foundation.

All entrants are expected to raise money for the charity which gives life experiences to children with terminal illnesses.

Winners of the Miss University GB competition go on to compete in Miss Universe.

Kate, hopeful of her chances, said: "Because there are only 18 other entrants I must have a good chance - they are decent odds.

"All my friends are willing me on and I have the backing of the student union."

Miss University GB takes place on March 1 at the Oceana nightclub in Cardiff.

Kate, who wants to raise over 1000 for The Joshua Foundation, added: "The fact that I have been nominated is a great opportunity to do some charity events."

The maths student is also part of Bath Jets, a university cheerleading squad.
