Revellers at Exmouth Festival have helped a sea scouts group in the town to raise vital funds towards refurbishing their home.

Cream teas and cakes were served ‘with a smile’ by the fifth Exmouth Sea Scouts at the festival, held earlier this month, to raise funds for vital works to refurbish their HQ.

They are currently based at a hut on the edge of the Imperial Recreation Ground and need to raise more than £20,000 just to get mains electricity and water fitted.

The stall they held at the festival also sold books, CDs and DVDs, raising more than £600.

Kate Phillips, assistant scout leader, said: “5th Exmouth Sea Scouts have been in our present hut for more than 50 years and it is now in dire need of refurbishment.

“We would like to thank everyone who came and supported us at the festival.

“The money raised will really help to kick start our renovation project,” she added.
