Scouts from across East Devon took part in a host of activities when the Devon Scouts Run to the Fun event took place at Bicton College
Scouts from Exmouth joined hundreds of young people from across Devon to take part in a camping extravaganza at Bicton College.
The Devon Scouts Run to the Fun event took two years to plan resulted in a host of fun-filled entertainment.
Boys and girls aged 10 to 18 were given the chance to try their hand at scores of activities, including rocket-making, kayaking, woodwork, crafts, power kite-flying, a crystal maze, boating, and an obstacle course.
Dodgems, doughnuts, chameleons and clowns were included in the 60-hour programme of events.
More than 650 young people took part in the event thanks to the small army of 200 volunteer helpers who ran the activities.
Scout leader Fiona Gage from Beer said: “The young people had a fantastic time. Every one of them had a smile on there face and they were asking about the next time.
“I had a go at dragon boat racing for the first time, it was exhilarating.
“I’ve been a leader for fifteen years and get do things in scouting I’d never get a chance to do normally.”
Organiser Andy Ellis said: “I’m proud to say everything we planned worked well and I’ve had a great time.
“While lots of people know that Scouting is all about adventure, they often don’t realise that adult volunteers get to do just as much as our young members through their involvement.
“This event is a great example of that, but I admit I’m a bit tried now, but given a good nights sleep I’m sure we will be planning our next event very soon. “
