An Exmouth schoolgirl has adorned a specially made dress to pay tribute to her late Falklands hero granddad.
Olivia Hogan, aged seven, stood for a photo shoot in a dress made of 100 metal poppies in memory of Peter ‘Smudge’ Smith who helped organise Exmouth’s poppy appeal before he died in 2015.
The Woodbury Primary School pupil stood for two hours having her photos taken telling her proud mum Tammy: “Grandad would be really happy.”
Tammy said: “She knew how passionate her granddad was about the Poppy Appeal. Olivia was very proud of the photos and has taken them in to show her classmates and her brownies.”
Peter Smith was a former Royal Marine who went on to join the HMS Fearless which was sent to the South Atlantic to help recapture the Falkland Islands.
Peter was involved in the evacuation and care of the injured on board the bombed Sir Galahad, including veteran Simon Weston who sustained severe burns.
