Exmouth’s Poppy Appeal efforts have been praised after the town dug deep and gave generously
Exmouth’s Poppy Appeal organiser has praised the generosity of the town for digging deep and raising more than 24,000 for the cause.
Tom Harvey-May has thanked all who gave generously this year, revealing 24,167 has already been banked.
Mr Harvey-May said the total mirrored 2010’s figure, adding he believed the final total would increase.
The Poppy Appeal organiser said: “It’s incredible. Once again the people of Exmouth - I don’t know how they do it – just come out and help time and time again.
“We didn’t expect it, with the recession and problems, but here they are putting their hands in their pockets. It’s lovely.
“There’s a good chance that we will at least match last year’s figures, which is really quite surprising in this day. I am very, very pleased.”
