EXMOUTH'S new lifeboat station shop opened its doors to the public for the first time last Friday.

EXMOUTH'S new lifeboat station shop opened its doors to the public for the first time last Friday.

Shop staff and volunteers have been hard at work putting up shelves and filling them with fund-raising stock.

The new shop, near the Maer, also has a lift to enable disabled customers to travel to the upstairs viewing area where they can look down on the all-weather lifeboat.

Shop volunteer Margaret Eaglesham said: "It's so wonderful and so clean and so light.

"A lot of us have fond memories of the shop in old inshore lifeboat station, but I am we will get used to the lovely surroundings and the view - you can't match that can you."

RNLI spokeswoman Clare McDermott said: "We are absolutely delighted to open a new shop in Exmouth, especially with our new product range, all supporting the lifesaving charity.

"One hundred per cent of the profits goes to helping save lives at sea.
