Scores of Exmouth men have been reaching for the razor after a month of gworing moustaches to mark Movember

Moustachioed men from across Exmouth reached for the razor after a month of highlighting male cancers.

Scores took part in the nationwide Movember event – growing a moustache for the month of November to raise funds and awareness of cancers affecting men.

Local Stagecoach bus drivers, pictured here, were among those entering into the spirit of the event, sporting a ’tache for the month.

Some 18 students at Exmouth Community College, including Nathan Simpson, joined in the fun, shaving their efforts off today.

Hairdresser Ray Baxter, 40, of New Creations hair salon, in St Andrews Road, has spent the month fundraising for various charities.

Mr Baxter will today shave off his moustache, which he said has been a ‘sacrifice’ to grow.

He is continuing to sell sports bags from a temporary shop next door to his salon, with the profit going to the Embercombe charity.

Mr Baxter said: “My moustache is like a trucker’s. I haven’t been able to cut it so it’s around my chin and down my mouth. It’s awful.

“I keep finding bits in it, like food and bogies.

“I will do it again next year. I hate it so much, it’s been a sacrifice.”

“People keep taking the mick out of me, calling me Freddie Mercury.

His daughter, Charlotte Merryweather, 21, recently completed the Bicton Blister 10-mile run.
