EXMOUTH’S sick and ill are in good hands – the NHS Trust which runs Exmouth’s ambulances from Liverton Business Park has scooped the Ambulance Trust of the Year award.

At an awards ceremony held at the Emirates Stadium South Western Ambulance Service won over four other services.

A contributing factor was that the Trust was the first in the UK to successfully deliver a stroke patient from his front door to a specialist scanner in hospital in just 10 minutes.

Trust Chief Executive Ken Wenman said: “I am delighted to learn that as a result of the ongoing hard work and commitment given by the Trust’s workforce, we have been fortunate in winning an impressive national accolade.

“However, there are always improvements to be made and whilst the Care Quality Commission report outcome and these award successes are extremely encouraging, we want to ensure that our services continue to be shaped by the very people that use them. This is even more crucial as we head ever closer to attaining our license to operate as an NHS Foundation Trust.”
