An Exmouth family is celebrating its fifth generation of females after baby Millie was born to Brixington mum Claire Clarke.

An Exmouth family is boasting five generations of girl power - with an age span of 92 years.

Baby Millie Clarke became the latest addition to the family when she was born to 27-year-old Craig and Claire Clarke, 23, of Ashfield Close, Brixington.

Little Millie will not be short of babysitters because also living in Exmouth are her grandmother, Caroline Lewis, of Lyndhurst Road, great-grandmother Ann Pitman, of Winston Road, Brixington, and 92-year-old great-great-granny Jane Williams, of Chichester Close, Withycombe Raleigh.

Millie’s proud mum said introducing her daughter to her great-great-granny Jane had been an touching moment.

When baby Millie had arrived at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital, her great-great-granny had been in the hospital, having cancer removed from her leg.

Jane met her great-great-granddaughter while she recovering at home.

“It was quite emotional because we didn’t think she would pull through,” said Claire. “She didn’t think she would get to see her, so it was lovely.”
