Exmouth’s Famous Old Barrel closure confirmed
PUBLISHED: 17:16 22 November 2017
The owners of the Famous Old Barrel pub – Exmouth’s ‘iconic’ music venue – have confirmed that it’s currently closed.
However they hope to re-open it soon, and retain it as a music venue.
Last week the pub’s management could not be contacted for comment. Now Star Pubs and Bars – which owns the Famous Old Barrel – has confirmed the position.
“The Famous Old Barrel is leased to an independent business person to run as their own,” said a spokesperson.
“Unfortunately they took the decision to close the pub at the end of October.
“We are working hard to reopen this popular music venue as quickly as possible.”
Affected events include the Monday-night jam, now at The Merchant.
The Famous Old Barrel also encountered difficulties in January 2012, when it was temporarily closed under previous management. The jam night moved to the Bath House, but later returned to the Barrel.
