After years of trying to make it in the music industry, Exmouth music producer Daniel Franks is releasing his first single.

The former Exmouth Community College pupil is part of ‘house-base’ act Understate, who will be releasing their debut single, Let it Go, tomorrow (May 15).

Daniel formed the band with fellow Leeds University student Charlie Kirkland after the pair met on a production course.

Understate were signed up by record label Armada Music and their debut song is the first track the pair wrote together.

Daniel said: “I’m very ecstatic - it’s just something I have always wanted for a very long time.

“Since I started writing songs, I have been looking forward to hearing what will happen to it.

“The main goal is to produce my own music for other artists.”

Daniel’s music dream started at Exmouth Community College when he was part of a rock band called Salt Weapon, before deciding to go it alone.

He left his job working at the Ashton Court Hotel, Exmouth, to follow his dream and enrolled in a two-year foundation course in music production at Leeds University.

He is now coming towards the end of his third year.

The song is available to download on iTunes or by visiting www.soundcloud.com/understateuk.
