EXMOUTH inshore lifeboat crew was on Sunday called to investigate reports a man had fallen overboard a yacht.

The RNLI crew launched shortly before 1pm after a yacht reported seeing a small vessel drifting by.

The crew carried out a search of the area and discovered the owner safe and well aboard his yacht near Cockwood.

AN RNLI spokeswoman said: "The owner had gone out to work on his boat but when the tender had come adrift, he had no means of alerting anyone as he had no mobile phone or VHF radio.
