EXMOUTH inshore lifeboat was launched to rescue three people who were cut off by the tide at Pole Sands.

The RNLI crew was called last Thursday following reports two men and a woman were stranded by the incoming tide.

The trio was taken back to shore where they were given safety advice.

An RNLI spokeswoman said: "The casualties had apparently got off the train at Dawlish and thought they could walk across the sands to Exmouth.
