Exmouth RNLI rescue boy trapped by tide on Sandy Bay beach

AN 11-year-old boy cut off by the tide while playing on Sandy Bay beach was rescued by Exmouth inshore lifeboat on Wednesday evening.

AN 11-year-old boy cut off by the tide while playing on Sandy Bay beach was rescued by Exmouth inshore lifeboat on Wednesday evening.

Portland coastguard raised the alarm shortly after 6pm and the RNLI crew was immediately launched.

Exmouth RNLI said the youngster was a holidaymaker staying at Devon Cliffs holiday park.

Alone and frightened when he was picked up by the inshore lifeboat crew, the boy was taken ashore and met by Exmouth coastguards who returned him to his father at the holiday park
