A 23-foot cabin cruiser was on Sunday afternoon rescued by Exmouth's lifeboat crew after it suffered gearbox failure.
The inshore lifeboat (ILB) was called to the stricken vessel but the boat was towed back to its mooring at Starcross by the all-weather lifeboat after it was deemed too heavy for the ILB.
