A WINDSURFER was rescued by Exmouth RNLI after he fell into the water and was swept towards Orcombe Point on the outgoing tide.
Exmouth inshore lifeboat crew was launched shortly before 1pm on Saturday after the windsurfer became separated from his equipment.
The all-weather lifeboat was launched when the seas became choppy.
The man was plucked to safety by another windsurfer, transferred to the inshore lifeboat and taken ashore.
Exmouth lifeboat operations manager Kevin Riley advised canoeists or windsurfers to wear the right clothing and safety equipment, carry a means of communication such as flares or radio, and where possible have someone on the shore ready to inform the emergency services should a problem arise.
