THE Littleham branch of the Royal British Legion, ladies section, recently held a successful coffee morning and Easter raffle, raising more than �100.

THE Littleham branch of the Royal British Legion, ladies section, recently held a successful coffee morning and Easter raffle, raising more than �100.

The cash raised by the group throughout 2010 will be given to the Royal British Legion Benevolent Fund, which provides financial, social and emotional support to those that have served and who are currently serving in British Armed Forces, and their families.

Group chairman Margaret West said: "This is our first fund raising event of 2010, the support from members and friends has been amazing and has got our fund raising off to an excellent start.

"The branch has many more fund raising items on their agenda including a strawberry tea."

The group is always keen to hear from new members, young and old.

Membership is open to all women including those in HM forces, ex-servicewomen and wives and girlfriends of past and present servicemen.

Women who do not have a service connection, but support the aims of the Royal British Legion, are also welcome.

Membership is �6.

The group meets at 7pm the Bidmead Centre, Littleham, every second Wednesday of the month, where there is guest speaker. The group holds fundraising events throughout the year.
