Exmouth police teamed up with pupils from Littleham Primary School to push home the message of road safety

Littleham Primary School pupils turned traffic cops when they teamed up with the police to curb speeding motorists.

Police Community Support Officer Malcolm Maguire recently spent the morning with the youngsters as part of the national Road Safety Week. As part of the session, the pupils designed road signs and tracked the speed of passing vehicles.

PCSO Maguire said: “All aspects of road safety were discussed and explored in the classroom and also practical exercises using the speed indication detection (SID) outside the school.”

“The pupils were all trained in how to monitor speed of road users and I am pleased to announce all vehicles checked were travelling in accordance to the speed limit.

“The pupils also designed their own versions of common road signs - which provoked some creative designs.”
