Children and parents said goodbye to the Rainbow pre-school after it closed its doors for the last time.

Youngsters got dressed up as pirates and princesses for a party.

The pre-school is closing after being based at St Joseph’s School for the last 25 years.

St Joseph’s wants the premises to be vacated to allow it to create its own foundation unit.

Rainbow was rated as ‘good’ by Ofsted inspectors earlier this year.

Manager Sue Legg, 62, has been involved with Rainbow pre-school since before it moved into St Joseph’s.

She said: “The event was very good fun. The children all enjoyed it.

“The parents also gave me a surprise party. I have met hundreds and hundreds of people and my thanks go to them all for trusting me. I would like to thank parents and children for thir words of support.”
