‘Lock vehicles; remove valuables’ - that is the messge from police in Exmouth keen to crackdown on car crime in Withycombe Raleigh

Police in Withycombe are urging people to lock their vehicle and remove valuables in a bid to curb crime.

The message comes from PCSO Ben Tithecott following an increase in vehicle crime in the area over the last month.

He reports had been received of damage to vehicles and theft of property left inside parked cars and vans was in the Halsdon and Withycombe areas of Exmouth.

The officer said highlighting the crimes, and stepping up police patrols in the area, had proved effective in identifying some of the culprits responsible.

PCSO Tithecott said: “Through information gained, we have been able to track down some of the offenders for some of the crimes and have been able to deal with them appropriately.”

He added: “It is important to stress that the increase has been slight and thus shouldn’t be a cause of any immediate concern to the general public.”
