EXMOUTH CID has reported a spate of burglaries in the Brixington area over the last few days.

Sentimental jewellery and heirlooms are among the items taken during the break-ins, officers said.

In a bid to crackdown on crime in the area, CID officers are appealing to the public to immediately report any suspicious behaviour.

Detective sergeant Jo Hall said Exmouth patrol officers and undercover police have been targeting the area.

She said: "If anyone sees anything suspicious, ring us straightaway. Some people have been leaving it until the next day before contacting us."

* A 31-year-old Exmouth man will appear before Exeter Magistrates' Court on Thursday December 31.
