Exmouth police are appealing for information after a 24-year-old woman was assaulted in Withycombe Raleigh on Boxing Day.

Officers said the woman was grabbed by a man at around 10.30pm as she walked alone along Claremont Lane

The police said the woman was not injured, although she had been left ‘very scared and shocked’ by the incident.

Officers are urging anyone who can identify the man, to come forward.

A Devon and Cornwall police spokesperson said: “A man came out of the bushes and, as the victim walked past, he grabbed her shoulders and tried to pull her backwards.

“The woman managed to fight him off and run to safety.”

The police have released a description of the man who attacked the woman.

He is said to be aged in his 20s, between 5ft 8in and 5ft 10in tall, of medium build, with a large flat nose.

On the night of the incident, he was wearing a dark zip-up hoody with the hood up and white shoes with red on the sides.

The police said it was possible he was wearing a silver ring on his left hand.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Exmouth police on 101, quoting crime reference KE/11/3358.
