Exmouth police are keen to trace a woman who was walking a dog, which police say attacked a golden retriever in Trefusis Terrace on Sunday afternoon – resulting in the animal requiring stitches.

Officers said an off-the-lead weimaraner bit the dog, which was on the lead, outside Rock House, between 3.30pm and 3.45pm on December 19.

The police are keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who can identify the woman dog walker.

PCSO Karen Capey said: “They were approached by a weimaraner that was off the lead.

“The weimaraner attacked the aggrieved’s dog by biting its face and shaking it. The owner of the offending dog called her dog ‘Storm’, put it on a lead and then walked off.

“The victim’s dog has received treatment, resulting in three staples to its face.”

The police said the woman with the offending dog is described as being of medium build with dark hair. She was wearing a woolly hat and headphones.

Contact the police with information on 101, quoting reference KE/11/3293.
