An Exmouth pet shop has raised more than £500 for Little Valley Animal Shelter in Exeter after asking customers for donations.

Staff from Pets at Home, in Salterton Road, presented Dave Phillips, manager of the Exmouth branch of the shelter, with a cheque for £531.

The money was collected through shoppers’ donations of 50pence over the Christmas period.

Dave said: “I was absolutely delighted with the money raised. All of it goes directly to the shelter, which is totally funded by local people.”

Dave first got involved with Little Valley when he got his dog, Lady, from them and has been helping the Exmouth branch of the charity ever since.

The Exmouth group will be holding a rummage sale at All Saints Church, in Exeter Road, from 10am to noon on Saturday (February 21) to raise funds for the cause.
