AN Exmouth nature reserve is holding an open day on Tuesday July 28, from 10am until 3pm.

Admission is free.

The Bystock and Exmouth Devon Wildlife Trust group is hosting the event at Bystock Nature Reserve, at the top of Hulham Road.

During the day there will be a host of displays and children's activities.

Cat Loudwill-Jones from Devon Wildlife Trust, who is running the event in conjunction with Exmouth DWT Local Group, said: "Bystock is one of DWT's best heathland nature reserves with good access and an excellent range of habitats including a meadow, ponds and woodland fringe.

"People can expect to see a wide range of typical heathland wildlife including birds, butterflies and many species of dragonfly. "Our members provide a significant proportion of our income each year so it is great to be offering them an opportunity to see what their money helps to support."

Light refreshments are available from 11am and guided walks are from 11am until 1.30pm.

Visitors are also invited to go along for part or all of the day to help with heathland management.

All tools are provided although visitors will need to take a packed lunch and wear suitable clothing.

The trust is also keen to hear from new volunteers or anyone wishing to donate.

To book a place on one of the walks, call Devon Wildlife Trust on (01392) 279244.
