A BRIXINGTON mum-of-four has raised 750 for cancer sufferers after her holding her big four-O birthday bash in aid of charity.

Julie Brown, 39, of Rowlestone Close, and more than 100 friends, on Saturday dug deep in aid of Breast Cancer UK at a party at Exmouth Pavilion.

Julie said she was asked to make the night an annual charity fundraiser.

She said: "Over 150 people attended wearing pink of some description. We couldn't keep up with sale of raffle tickets.

"It was a great success everyone has told me what a fab time they had, and the idea to raise for breast cancer was fantastic."

Julie said she was grateful to the local businesses and individuals who donated more than 60 raffle prizes for the event.

She praised Daniel Neaves, from DKN hair in Budleigh Salterton, for donating hair straighteners worth nearly 200.

Julie also thanked Paul Sherwood of Sherwood entertainments, Aby's catering and Simon Findel-Hawkins, manager of Exmouth Pavilion.

The party's success was thanks to the tireless work of months Julie and her three childhood friends - Tracey Hardman, 40, of Barn Lane, Budleigh Salterton, Julie Bache, 40, of Bradham Lane, Exmouth, and Liz Wood, also 40, of Pines Road, Exmouth, who spent several months contacting local businesses and organisations to support the event.
