Exmouth mum Julie McCracken will have her head shaved on Thursday, (September 28) to raise funds for McMillan Cancer Support.

An Exmouth woman is set to ‘brave the shave’ to raise funds for a cause close to her heart.

Withycombe mum Julie McCracken, 53, is having her head shaved at 2pm, at Zainz Hair Studio, Albion Street, to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

The retired nurse is taking on the challenge as people close to her have had their lives changed by cancer.

She said: “I lost a close friend to cancer last year and my best friend is going through cancer for the third time.

“I just felt that I wanted to do something for Macmillan.”

Julie dyed her hair green, the colour synonymous with the charity, ahead of the shave today (Thursday, September 28).

This is the second time she has taken on a head shave challenge after raising money for Water Aid a few years ago.

Now she hopes to raise £500 for the cancer charity, so far she has raised £190.
