Exmouth Mayor’s Ball to help Alzheimer’s Society

The date has been revealed for next year’s Exmouth Mayor’s Charity Ball.
The event, which will raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society, will take place on Saturday, March 4, 2017, at Ocean, Queen’s Drive.
The mayor, Councillor Brian Cole, said he wanted funds raised by the ball to ‘make a real impact’ on the support offered by his chosen charity.
He said: “The services currently run by the Alzheimer’s Society are Singing for the Brain and their dementia support worker.
“These are funded by a mixture of voluntary donations, local authority and NHS funding and client contributions.
“Locally-raised funds are vital in this difficult economic climate, so I would like to help to make a difference by raising a substantial donation to help continue the fight against dementia.
“We probably don’t all realise that this cruel disease gradually robs the person of speech, memories and independence and it is not confined to ‘older people’.”
The ball will get under way with arrivals from 6.30pm, with the opportunity to have a souvenir photograph taken.
At 7pm, there will be a short welcome from the mayor, followed by a meal prepared and served by Posh Nosh.
Dancing will follow to live music performed by The Lateshift.
There will also be a draw with a great range of prizes.
Tickets for the event will cost £35, and will be available to buy from Ocean or from the Exmouth Town Council offices at 44 Rolle Street, from January 9.
