An all-day mixed martial arts (MMA) demonstration raised funds for a cancer charity.

More than £1,000 was raised for the Exeter Leukaemia Fund (ELF) after a 24-hour display session by the Maddogs Academy was held at Knappe Cross Community Centre.

The charity was chosen after the father of the group’s leader, Andy McGlynn, died last year.

Andy said ELF had been chosen because of the ‘care and kindness’ the charity had showed to his father.

He also thanked all the academy’s members who took part in a day of circuit training, boxing and jujitsu.

● Maddogs MMA Academy trains every Tuesday evening at the Knappe Cross Community Centre. Anyone interested in joining should ring Andy on 07837 750056.
