Exmouth: man seriously assaulted

A ‘serious’ assault in Exmouth has prompted police to appeal for information.

Police in Exmouth are appealing for witnesses after a 21-year-old local man was seriously assaulted in the town.

Devon and Cornwall police said the incident took place on The Strand at around 2.15am on Thursday June 27.

A police spokesperson said: “The victim tried to separate two men who were involved in a fight when he was attacked by one of the pair.

“He was punched in the jaw and hit his head after falling to the floor.”

The suspect is described as being between 5ft 8in and 5ft 9in tall, of medium build, with tattoos on his left arm and with brown hair styled flat on top but shaved at the sides.

He was wearing dark blue jeans and a navy blue polo shirt which had a yellow emblem on the chest.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Police on 101, quoting reference KE/13/1438.

• Police said a 35-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of malicious wounding. He was released on police bail until 1 August, 2013.
