Exmouth man arrested on suspicion of producing controlled substance

An Exmouth man was arrested in Plymouth yesterday (Wednesday, July 6) on suspicion on producing a controlled substance.

Police were called at around 5.30pm following the discovery of suspicious items in the basement of a property.

Devon and Cornwall Police said nearby properties were evacuated, but Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) confirmed the device was not a live explosive.

Officers said items were recovered at the scene by the search team and police investigations continue.

Police said a 38-year-old man was arrested at the scene and remains in police custody and is waiting to be questioned.
