Exmouth lifeboat launched to search for missing swimmer

Friday, July 25 - EXMOUTH'S lifeboat was launched on Thursday afternoon after a man was reported missing in the sea off Teignmouth beach.

EXMOUTH'S lifeboat was launched on Thursday afternoon after a man was reported missing in the sea off Teignmouth beach.

The 42-year-old on holiday from Wales had been swimming in the surf with his son prior to his disappearance.

Police, coastguard and inshore rescue teams were tasked to the scene and at 4.30pm the man was recovered from the sea.

He was transferred to Torbay hospital by helicopter where he was pronounced dead.
