Exmouth Ladies Probus Club celebrated a milestone birthday with a lunch for more than 80 members.
The club was founded in 1993 by the wives of the Men’s Probus Club, who felt ‘left out’ by the male organisation.
Pictured here is Pat Barrett and Iris Springthorpe, cutting the birthday cake to celebrate 25 years of the club. They are current members, who with Christina Hay and Heather Chapman, were also founding club members.
Some 60 members were on the register when the club was first formed; with a ‘long waiting list’.
Club spokeswoman Marion Drew said: “The main benefit of the Ladies Probus Club is that no member need ever feel lonely or friendless and that means a great deal to those of a mature age, particularly at a time of loss.
“There is also the benefit to those moving from other parts of the country into our Devon retirement area, in that the opportunity is given to make firm and lasting friendships.”
