A party has been held in Exmouth to mark the eighth anniversary of a community interest group.

Exmouth Knit and Chat group, part of the Volunteering Matters charity, celebrated eight years in the town with a special event at Ratcliffe Community Centre, Burnside.

The event was attended by Exmouth town crier Roger Bourgein, who spoke about the ‘warmth and friendliness’ of the members.

Exmouth Knit and Chat group is a social club designed to get its members together to knit things for good causes.

The group has sent thousands of knitted items to regional, national and international charities over the years using wool donated by Exmouth residents.

Aimed at those over 50 years old, the group meets every Thursday at the community centre – the group’s new home having previously met at Dennings Court.

Anyone wanting to donate wool to the group should ring Sandra on 01395 273692.
