EXMOUTH'S inshore lifeboat crew was on Monday diverted from an exercise when a member of the public reported seeing a man slumped in a canoe out at sea.
Unable to establish with powerful binoculars any definite sighting, the inshore lifeboat crew broke off from its exercise to investigate.
When the crew drew closer to the object they discovered it to be a large tree trunk in the sea.
