Exmouth Inner Wheel held its annual ‘fish and chip supper’ event to raise funds for international charities and this year had a talk by Jude Hattersley of Toilet Twinning.

The sanitation charity is working with Tearfund in some of the poorest communities in the world.

A donation was made by the Exmouth Inner Wheel to help the charities with the work they are doing.

Members were told how some countries have no access to toilet facilities meaning women are being attacked at night when they have to make a ‘bathroom visit’.

Both charities are helping families to learn about the need of toilets and how hygiene principles will improve their health.

A spokesperson for the Inner Wheel said this talk really ‘brought home’ how people take modern sanitation for granted.
