Exmouth in Bloom has paid tribute to a man who gave 50 years service to parks in East Devon.

Mike Vine recently retired from East Devon District Council parks and garden development.

As a thank you for his service over his 50 years helping look after green spaces, he was presented with a lifetime membership certificate for Friends of Exmouth in Bloom.

A spokesman for Exmouth in Bloom said: “Mike’s wealth of knowledge will be missed by his Exmouth in Bloom colleagues, but it is hoped he will eventually join Exmouth in Bloom in an advisory capacity.

“If he has retirement withdrawal symptoms from grubbing in soil or felt the need for a touch of therapeutic weeding, there will always be a warm welcome waiting for Mike at Exmouth in Bloom.”

The presentation was made by Jon Wheatley, chairman of South West in Bloom, and Gerry Bassett, chairman of Exmouth in Bloom.
