Exmouth in Bloom to honour Garth Gibson

EXMOUTH'S much-loved town crier Garth Gibson, who recently died, is to be permanently honoured by the Exmouth in Bloom committee.

EXMOUTH'S much-loved town crier Garth Gibson, who recently died, is to be permanently honoured by the Exmouth in Bloom committee.

A meeting held by the group last week resulted in a unanimous vote a new trophy should be named in the bloom committee member's honour.

The new trophy will be awarded to the winner of guesthouses- small gardens class as part of the presentation evening at the end of the summer

Chairman of Exmouth in Bloom Pat Graham said: "Garth was always a willing volunteer and a great supporter of Exmouth in Bloom and it gives us great pleasure to remember him and his invaluable contribution to Exmouth in Bloom in this way."

The competition has many classes and is open to all residents and business in Exmouth who are proud of their gardens or floral displays.

Forms are available from the town hall, Garners, Budgens, Hulham Road Stores, Exmouth Library, the Magnolia Kiosk, the Tourist Information Centre and on line at www.exmouthinbloom.org.uk

The closing date is June 30 2009.
