Exmouth groups invited to apply for Tesco grants

Community projects in Exmouth are being urged to apply for cash from a newly improved supermarket grant scheme.

Supermarket chain Tesco says it is seeking new applicants for its scheme where groups receive support from 5p carrier bag charges.

Previously, grants of up to £4,000 were awarded to three groups every other month, however this has now been increased to every month, with customers given the chance to vote in store.

Kevin Duxbury of Groundwork, which has teamed up with Tesco to run the scheme, said: “The new extended criteria monthly format will see even more groups benefit from Bags of Help grants which is why we’re encouraging groups in Exmouth to make sure they come forward and apply in order to benefit from this fantastic opportunity.”

Community groups and charities can apply for funding, and Tesco customers and staff members can also nominate projects. For more information ask in store or visit www.tesco.com/bagsofhelp/.
