A four-figure donation from freemasons will move the town’s library a step closer to creating a new community space.
Exmouth Freemasons has donated £1,500 to the Friends of Exmouth Library which will go towards transforming a room intro a space for community groups to use.
Members of the freemasons were given a tour of the recently refurbished children’s section – partly funded by the freemasons and the Province of Devonshire WAKE Fund – before presenting a cheque for the latest donation.
Beatrice Coveney, Exmouth Library Senior Library Supervisor, said: “Exmouth Library would like to thank the Freemason Lodges of Exmouth for their generous contribution to the Friends of Exmouth Library.
“The Friends of Exmouth Library will invest the money in transforming a room into a welcoming community space to meet, socialise, learn, read and enjoy new experiences while supporting the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.
“We plan to create a dedicated meeting room with refreshment facilities and an informal area for young people for the autumn 2018.”
