Kind-hearted Exmouth fish and chip shop owners have presented a special needs school with a cheque for £5,412.

Krispies, in Exeter Road, sold 1,529 portions of fish and chips to celebrate owners Tim and Kelly Barnes’ 15 years in business last month – with all of the proceeds going to Vranch House.

Vranch House, Exeter is a centre for the treatment of around 2,000 outpatients with physical difficulties.

Kelly explained the money is going to the refurbishment of the charity’s hydrotherapy pool, which is expected to open in June.

She said: “The cheque presentation went really well.

“Vranch House marketing manager Andrew Barge was really grateful for our donation.

“He was initially sceptical of our fundraising target of £4,000, but he said we put in a top effort to raise more than £5,000. Andrew said he would support Tim and I in fundraising for Vranch House again in the future.”
