EXMOUTH firefighters on Sunday evening rescued residents stuck in a block of flats at Cranford Avenue.

The fire crew was called shortly before 6.30pm following a call from the occupiers of the property saying they were trapped in the flats because the door was deadlocked shut.

The crews used small tools to remove the door from the property to free the residents, and left the incident in the hands of the landlord.
