TELEVISION FIRE: Exmouth firefighters were called to a home in Brixington on Saturday, November 26, following reports of a fire.

When they arrived at the Malborough Close property, they found a fire involving a television was already out on their arrival.

The fire brigade said the cause of the fire was accidental.

REMEMBER LOVED ONES: A Christmas service of remembrance to celebrate the lives and memories of loved ones is being held at the East Devon Crematorium on Saturday, December 10, at 1pm.

The service at the new crematorium, near Whimple ,will be led by the Reverend Robin Laird, of Sidmouth, with Geoff Wood, a civil celebrant, and Trudi Farmer, an interfaith minister, taking part.

There will be carols and readings reflecting on Christmas, as well as an opportunity to light a candle in memory of a friend or family member. Refreshments, including mulled wine, mince pies, tea and cake, will be provided after the service. All are welcome.

WITHYCOMBE POLICING: Withycombe Raleigh residents are invited to air any concerns or issues about the area at a police surgery on Friday, December 16.

Police Community Support Officer Ben Tithecott will be at Withycombe Village Road shops from 10.30, for around an hour. All are welcome.

WEIGHT-LOSS SUCCESS: Woodbury Weight Watchers are celebrating a total loss of 30 stone, with six of the group reaching their goal weight.

Meetings for 2011 at the village hall end on December 20, which will be followed by a lunch at the White Hart. The group will commence on January 10, 2012.
